Friday Night Live's Standards of Practice
All participants in Friday Night Live Programs:
1. Will experience a safe environment
2. Will have opportunities for involvement and connection to community and school
3. Will have opportunities for leadership and advocacy
4. Will have opportunities to engage in meaningful skill building activities that are designed to capture the interest and participation of young people
5. Will have opportunities for caring and meaningful relationships among youth and with adults

Program Operating Principles

The San Luis Obispo County Friday Night Live Partnership provides programming based on the following principles of youth development. These principles are the foundation for Asset building and youth advocacy.
Friday Night Live Programs:
  • Are youth-driven and youth led.
  • Provide safe, healthy, fun, and supportive places for youth to be 
  • Develop skills and resilient traits, especially a sense of power and autonomy.
  • Are culturally competent                                         
  • Build community partnerships to support youth.
  • Have clearly defined and measurable goals, based on research and objective data                                                  
  • Provide meaningful and caring relationships among youth and with adults.
  • Support and train adults to work effectively with youth         
  • Promote a belief in youth's capacity to contribute.
  •   Are evaluated periodically to assess progress and refine,  improve, and strengthen the program’s effectiveness
